Privacy Policy

LockRecall keeps your flashcards on your iPhone. There is no LockRecall account, no LockRecall server, and no copy of your cards anywhere we can reach.

What we collect

Nothing. The LockRecall app has no analytics, no crash reporting, and no user accounts. We cannot see your cards, your review history, your settings, or how often you use the app.

This website is a separate matter and is covered below.

Everything the app creates — decks, cards, familiarity history, widget appearance, and your Anki connection settings — is stored in the app's own container on your device, shared with the LockRecall widget so it can show a card on your Lock Screen. It is included in your iPhone backup if you back the device up, under your own Apple ID and your own encryption. It is not sent to us.

Syncing with Anki

Importing from Anki is optional and only happens when you start it. When you do, LockRecall connects directly to the address you enter in Settings — by default 127.0.0.1, meaning a copy of Anki Desktop running the AnkiConnect add-on on your own computer, over your own Wi-Fi network.

Your cards travel from your computer to your iPhone and stop there. They do not pass through any server we operate, because we do not operate one. We never see the contents of your decks.

Advertising

The free version of LockRecall shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, and lets you watch an optional rewarded video to unlock extra widget mascots and the custom theme. Google receives information needed to serve and measure those ads — such as your device type, coarse location derived from your IP address, and ad interactions.

LockRecall does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, so your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is never made available to Google or anyone else, and your activity is not linked to data from other companies' apps and websites. Ads are served on a non‑personalised basis.

What Google does with the data it receives is governed by Google's privacy policy. You can review your ad settings at adssettings.google.com.

Remove Ads Forever

The Remove Ads Forever purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, payment card, or billing address — Apple tells the app only whether the purchase is active on your Apple ID. Restoring the purchase on another device asks Apple the same question again.

Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children

LockRecall is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — because we do not collect personal information at all.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and everything it stored goes with it. There is nothing left on our side to request, export, or erase, and no account to close. If you have backed up your iPhone, remove the backup through iCloud or the Finder to clear those copies too.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. EnEns LLC holds no personal data about LockRecall users, so there is nothing for us to return or delete. Requests about advertising data collected by Google should go to Google using the links above.

This website

These pages — not the app — use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can tell whether anyone is finding the support material, and Vercel Speed Insights to measure how quickly the pages load for real visitors. Neither sets cookies, and neither follows you to other websites.

Between them they record a count of visits per page, coarse details like the country, browser, and device type a visit came from, and timings for how long the page took to appear. All of it describes the page rather than the person. None of it identifies you, and it is never combined with anything from the app.

The site is hosted by Vercel, which like any web host handles the requests your browser makes to it. Their handling is covered by Vercel's privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a fresh date at the top. Material changes to what the app collects will also be described in the App Store release notes for the version that makes them.
